About Chris Weitzel & Associates
Welcome > Agent Info > About Chris Weitzel & Associates ...

Chris Weitzel, CRS

Hello and nice to meet you! My name is Chris Weitzel and I am a Realtor with RE/MAX Whatcom County, Inc. I hope we get the chance to one day meet in person, but in the meantime continue reading below for more information on myself and my business.

How I got started in Real Estate:
If a fortune teller had predicted thirty years ago that I would pursue a career in Real Estate, I probably would have had her crystal ball recalled. Fresh out of school with a degree in counseling, I was invited to Sudden Valley by a friend, a Realtor, to critique his latest sales pitch. I listened, as I did, a new world opened up to me. Fascinated with how the market works, I marveled at the idea of investing in or selling a property and watching it appreciate. The freedom to work my own hours also attracted me. As many of us have done, I took a fork in the road, thinking that I would delay my counseling career a few years and sell Real Estate. Here I sit, thirty years later, selling in the same market and enjoying every minute of it.

The Key to My Success:
The key to my success stems from my past training and interest in counseling. Understanding people is an important tool in my avocation but none more than sales. My job satisfaction comes from connecting the right people to the right property, one that not only changes an address but also a lifestyle. I first started selling Real Estate with a small independent firm in Sudden Valley which was known as a retirement or second home community for Canadians and Seattle residents. I joined RE/MAX seven years ago, and my market is now exposed to the world through the RE/MAX Referral Network and my strong presence on the web. RE/MAX gives me the confidence to think outside the box, to be an innovator and a leader.

Today:
Today, I have become an Ambassador for our local real estate market – opening communication between Boards – and being awarded the #1 RE/MAX Realtor in Whatcom County for six consecutive years. My Top Selling Real Estate Team, Weitzel & Associates, includes a full-time support staff unmatched by any of my fellow Realtors. Having a top selling listing agent, several buyers’ agents, a marketing coordinator and a transaction coordinator insures that all of our clients’ needs are met in a timely and professional manner. I am proud of my community involvement, my sales, my team, and most important of all, my decision to become a RE/MAX Realtor!

Chris Weitzel - Your Local Real Estate Expert:
Most sellers don’t realize that they pay the same amount for a Realtor whether they are good, bad, new or a veteran. Therefore, It’s of the upmost importance for those considering a Realtor to choose one with experience and success. As a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) with over 30 years of experience in Whatcom County’s Market, I am confident that I can answer any question and meet and need you have concerning real estate.

The drive I have to further my education in Real Estate, keeps me updated on the latest marketing tools and strategies. The extremely successful marketing campaign I built for my clients has helped me sell more real estate than any other RE/MAX Realtor, awarding me the Top RE/MAX agent in all of Whatcom County for 6 consecutive years and in the Top 10 for the Pacific Northwest Region.

While the average RE/MAX agent in Washington helps 17 families buy and sell homes in one year, I constantly help over 70. Since June 2005 – I have sold over 221 homes, 29 condos, and 59 lots. In addition to the high level of sales, I have also averaged home sellers 98.16% sale price to list price! I believe my knowledge of Whatcom County and having lived and worked here for over 30 years gives me the ability to promote this area better than any other Realtor.

Real Estate Tips
Home Inspections >If It Is Broken Fix It

Most houses have a few "little" problems, like leaking faucets, a stove burner that won't light, or electrical outlets with too much "spark". These defects may not seem very important--unless your house is about to go on the market.

We rarely have difficulty getting sellers to agree to paint, replace worn carpets or plant a few flowers in the front yard. These kinds of repairs obviously increase the overall appeal of the property. However, if any of the major systems in your home need maintenance, it is also prudent to have the necessary repairs made. Have your furnace, central air-conditioning system, plumbing and wiring checked as part of your pre-marketing efforts. The best rule is--if it's broken, fix it!

The purchase agreement requires that a house be conveyed with all the systems in working order, and most buyers will bring in a home inspector to identify any potential problems. During the period of time between the "meeting of the minds" and the removal of the inspection contingencies, the buyers are the most vulnerable to an attack of buyer's remorse. This is also the time when anything that hasn't been repaired could become a major issue.
