    Bellingham Information and Highlights

Bellingham is the largest city in Whatcom county, as well as being the county seat, in Washington state. Overall, it is the thirteenth largest city in all of Washington. Bellingham is the northernmost city in the contiguous United States. It has easy access to outdoor opportunities, including waterside venues, in the San Juan Islands and North Cascades, as well as being in close proximity to the cities of Vancouver and Seattle. Bellingham itself is named after the bay that the city is situated. George Vancouver visited the area in June 1792 and named the bay for Sir William Bellingham, the controller of the storekeeper’s account of the Royal Navy. Throughout its many years of rich history, agriculture, coal mining and development, Bellingham has become a beautiful and beloved city that is frequented by both American and Canadian tourists each year.

    Weather

Bellingham experiences standard Washington weather, especially those common with the Puget Sound region. Year-long average daily high and low temperatures rang from fifty-nine to forty-four point one degrees Fahrenheit. The area is influenced by a strong oceanic climate that is influenced both by the water as well as the Cascade Range and Olympic Mountains. As is standard for Washington State, Bellingham experiences a larger amount of rainfall, typically thirty-four point eight inches, which is slightly less than the nearby city of Seattle.

    Recreation / Things To Do

Bellingham is a phenomenal place to get out and experience some outdoor activities, whether it be in one of the old businesses or venues about, or in the great outdoors on the San Juan Islands or the North Cascades.
